Product of the Month: This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray

Deep Sleep wideSleep. That blissful state of surrendering your mind and body to rest and rejuvenation. It’s a precious thing, and essential for our wellbeing. But, for many of us, it’s all too elusive. So this month, I’m spotlighting a product that can give you a helping hand to reach the land of nod, and stay there: Deep Sleep Pillow Spray by This Works.

A few moments before you settle in for sleep you spritz a fine mist over your pillow. When you lay your head down you gently breathe in the fragrance and it helps you drop off. The spray is infused with essential oils of Lavender, Vetivert and Wild Camomile – all scents chosen to soothe your body and mind. These three oils are known to calm the nervous system and have a sedative effect. Sounds dreamy – and it is.

It has a subtle fragrance, so it won’t shock your nostrils. And it’s not sickly sweet or floral, so it’s one for the boys as well as the girls. The Lavender lends it a soft herby scent (not as strong as the many artificial Lavender fragrances you might know), the Vetivert brings an earthy, woody quality, and the Wild Camomile gives it a delicate clean note. The best part is that this pillow spray is a natural sleep aid – no chemicals or synthetic fragrances here.

I’ve been using it for two weeks and, although I haven’t “felt more refreshed in the morning” (as 92% of users in their clinical test did), I most definitely fell asleep faster (as 89% of users did). There are many aspects of our busy modern lives that can have a negative effect on our quality of sleep – stress and anxiety, a bad diet, lack of exercise, crazy routines, being hyper-connected, the light from our iPhones – so this pillow spray might not be an instant fix, but it’s a simple, natural aid that might just help.

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray; £16. Available from This Works online and from Boots, John Lewis, Space NK and several online beauty websites
